speed and a long arm reach which enables him to cover a lot of space
in the goal area.
AS A JUNIOR: Started first five games of the 2001 campaign and played
in six contests overall • allowed 11 goals and made 18 saves in 437:59
• registered a 2.26 goals against average and .621 save percentage
and posted one shutout • had a 2-3-0 overall record • played entire
108:59 of Furman game and made four saves in 3-2 double overtime loss
• had five saves in the game against Rutgers • played the final 9:57
of IUPUI contest and finished with one save.
AS A SOPHOMORE: Earned 11 starts in the 12 games he played during
first season as the full-time starter in goal • started the first 11
games of the season in 2001 • registered a 1.23 goals against average
and .712 save percentage • had 37 saves overall during the season and
was credited with 3.5 shutouts • posted his third shutout of the
season in Notre Dame's 3-0 win over Syracuse as he made five saves in
the contest • recorded his first career shutout in making his first
collegiate start versus New Mexico in the season opener and posted
five saves in the game • recorded his second consecutive shutout in
0-0 tie with UNLV and made four saves in the contest • named MVP of
the UNLV Fila/Snickers Rebel Classic after recording two shutouts and
making nine saves in 210 minutes of action • named BIG EAST
Goalkeeper of the Week following those two performances • also made
five saves in the Boston College game.
AS A FRESHMAN: Played in three games behind Gerick Short • played a
total of 35:30 during the '99 campaign • did not allow a goal, made
one save and shared in two shutouts in the three games he appeared in
• saw action for the first time in his collegiate career in the 12th
game of the season against Providence where he played the final 11:28
of the match and made one save • played 16:30 against Villanova and
also saw action in the final 7:02 in Notre Dame's BIG EAST
quarterfinal match versus Rutgers.
HIGH SCHOOL AND PERSONAL DATA: Two-year starter at Christian Brothers Academy
• played on the varsity team for five years and helped his team to
104 victories during that time • had a 58-4 record as the starting
goalkeeper • as a junior, CBA recorded the only undefeated season in
school history (23-0) while earning the team's second consecutive
state crown • garnered all-state, all-conference and all-city honors
following his junior and senior seasons • an all-East selection in
1998 • top member of East ODP program since 1995 • traveled to Bellinzona, Switzerland, with that team in 1999 • has
played for the Syracuse Blitz club team since 1989 and has been a
member of three teams which have captured State Cup championships •
squad was runner-up at National Indoor tournament in '98 • twice
participated in adidas Elite Program • born Jan. 18, 1981 • enrolled
in the Mendoza College of Business as a marketing major.
